Monika's travels abroad, in particular to Europe, have inspired her. After each trip, she was left with a sense of wonder and awe, and a deeper appreciation of the ‘old world’ against the backdrop of the ‘new’. She sees endless connections and interplay between the two worlds and seeks to share her deep appreciation through visual mediums.
Monika’s studio work moves from realism to abstraction and back depending on her passions at the time. What is constant, is her interest in the process of art creation, whether it be photography, painting, or mixed media. The various processes allow her the freedom to explore and find a voice for the conversations that are evoked with the pieces she creates.
